    TEQUILA TASTING and RATINGS

Welcome to our Featured Tequila page. This page will be revised periodically to feature a different brand of Tequila.

Our current "featured tequila" is: Marcado 28 Blanco and Reposado

    Marcado 28 Tequilas

Marcado 28 is produced at Autentica Tequilera Distillery, NOM 1502, in the town of Tequila, Jalisco. Released in Oct 2024, Marcado 28 is a partnership among Chefs Michael & Bryan Voltaggio and Master Tequilero Bruno Barba – a descendent of the Romo family, known for their agave cultivation and distilling expertise for 10 generations.

Marcado 28 is a relatively small-batch, additive-free tequila. "Marcado 28" which means “marked” is a nod to Leviticus 19:28, a biblical passage that warns against tattooing, further inspiring the brand's tagline, "Dare to Be Defiant."

This tequila is made from estate-grown agave cooked using low-pressure autoclave. The cooked agave is crushed by 5-stage roller mill. Open air Fermentation is followed by double distillation using stainless steel pot stills. The tequila is bottled at 40% alc.

Label design and bottle art was created by Tattoo Artists El Sando and Billy Baca of Austin TX. El Sando has a Mesomerican style highlighting cultural aspects of the indigenous Indians from the Tequila region. On the Reposado label, the central figure is Mayahuel, Aztec Goddess of agave and fertility.

Tequila Connection completed our review of Marcado 28 Tequilas on 24 April 2026. All tasting was performed using the official tequila glass from Riedel with the spirit served at room temperature.

Marcado 28 Blanco, bottle number 00642, has a crystal-clear appearance and a light-to-medium-oily body. Many defined legs are seen falling down the glass. On the nose there’s a crisp, green, vegetal, agave aroma that also has fruity (citrus – lime and orange) notes along with a slightly herbal undertone (lemon grass and oregano). The flavor was on the fruity side (sweet citrus and apple), with some welcoming agave. Mid palate we sensed slight herbal notes with a touch of vanilla. Spice appears in the medium-length finish with some cinnamon and a pop of pepper at the end. It was mentioned this tequila has a light-crisp feel suitable for a hot summer day.
The Blanco received an average score of 84.6, and a "Great" rating.

Marcado 28 Reposado, bottle number 78I6, has a white-wine appearance and a medium-oily body. Defined legs are observed cascading down the glass followed by another layer of tears that descend more slowly.
We detected light aromas of sweet-cooked agave with an herbal presence along with some spice and caramel. We tasted fruit (citrus and mango) along with some light herbal and spice notes with hints of vanilla. There’s a gentle sweetness that flows through. We found the finish to be slightly peppery with some oak and spice. A pleasant sipper that goes down easily (not aggressive).
Tequila Connection gave the Reposado a slightly higher score of 87 converting to a "Great +".

Nice job to Chefs Michael & Bryan Voltaggio and Master Tequilero Bruno Barba. We enjoyed our review of Marcado 28.
